چکیده

Fe,,Mn, alloys undergo fcc-bcc (y-a) and fcc-hcp (y-E) transformations for about 0<x<10 at % and 15<x<30 at% respectively. The product phase in the region 10<x<15 at. % is mixed a+€ and ~ + y . The y-a transformation in Fe-Mn is similar to that in Fe-rich Fe-Ni alloys where the transformation takes place between a high-temperature dense fcc structure and a lowtemperature more open bcc structure. This anomalous volume increase at the martensite transformation temperature is closely related to short-range ferromagnetic correlations in the fcc and bcc states. The y-E: transformation in Fe-Mn takes place between a high-temperature fcc structure and a relatively denser packed low-temperature hcp structure. In this case there is no anomalous volume increase. In the present work we investigate the volumetric properties of Felo0.,Mn, with x=830 at % and examine the influence of the magnetic properties on the y-a and y-E martensitic transformations. Results show that the y-E transformation occurs with the simultaneous loss of ferromagnetic correlations in the y-phase.

The effect of cyclic martensitic transformations on diffusion of cobalt atoms in Fe-18wt.%Mn-2wt.%Si alloy

Diffusion characteristics of cobalt atoms were investigated using radioactive isotope method in phase-hardened Fe-18wt.%Mn-2wt.%Si alloy. The observed significant increase of diffusion coefficient of cobalt atoms under the cyclic γ-ε-γ martensitic transformations was due to the action of two independent mechanisms - an athermal one and a thermally activated one. The first one arose from the dir...

Nanostructurization of Fe-Ni Alloy

Data about an effect of cyclic γ-α-γ martensitic transformations on the structure state of reverted austenite Fe-31.7 wt.% Ni-0.06 wt.% C alloy are presented. The effect of multiple direct γ-α and reverse α-γ martensitic transformations on fragmentation of austenitic grains has been investigated by electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. An ultrafine structure has been formed by nano...

Athermal and Isothermal Martensitic Transformations Induced at Room Temperature by Ultra High Magnetic Field

Effects of ultra high magnetic field of both pulse and steady types on martensitic transformation have been studied, using Fe-Ni-Mn, Fe-Ni-Mn-C alloys with the supplemental tests on Fe-Ni-C and Fe-NiCo-Ti alloys. It is found that the martensitic transformation is induced at room temperature not only athermally but also isothermally either by pulse magnetic field or by steady magnetic field for ...

Cyclic Martensitic Transformations Influence on the Diffusion Of Carbon Atoms in Fe-18 wt.%Mn-2 wt.%Si alloy

A significant carbon diffusion mobility acceleration as a result of cyclic γ↔ε martensitic transformations in iron-manganese alloy is determined by one- and two-dimensional structure defects of ε-martensite with face-centered close-packed lattice. Such defects (dislocations, low angle sub-boundaries of dislocations, chaotic stacking faults) were formed during cyclic γ↔ε martensitic transformati...

The effect of multiple martensitic transformations on diffusion of Fe and Ni atoms in Fe-31.7%Ni-0.06%C alloy

Diffusion characteristics of iron and nickel atoms were investigated using radioactive isotopes method in phase-hardened metastable iron-nickel Fe-31.7%Ni-0.06%C alloy with nanofragmented structure. It has been found that diffusion mobility of nickel and iron atoms in reverted austenite of Fe-31.7%Ni-0.06%C alloy significantly increases as the result of multiple γ-α-γ martensitic transformation...
